It's my senior year and I'm writing a thesis because that's how we roll at Reed, so I haven't had much time for fandom. (I AM GOING TO FAIL MY THESIS.)

Anything exciting happened lately? Any new fandoms, life-altering experiences, new pets, books published, babies, cute stories, etc, etc? Especially if I don't know you and/or you're a lurker--it would make me really happy if you introduced yourself. ♥

Me, I have gotten really into fashion, which is almost as fun as Dwarf Fortress and both more expensive and less time-consuming (I could sit and play Dwarf Fortress for probably 12 hours without stopping to eat). Umm, I have a new Pentel Color Brush Pen in black that is truly fantastic for inking. I... finished a mini-comic?

My life hasn't really been very exciting.

You are NOT going to fail your thesis! You are going to write brilliant thesis that everyone will admire and want to read. And then we will wear our shiny, shiny laurels all over campus and BE AWESOME.

I, uh, have asthma now? There is this major awesome snow storm going on outside, and it is awesome because there is snow everywhere, though going home will probably suck. And I've been writing lots of fic and sucked into other fandoms, though I did write SGA comment fic for someone's birthday last night (though I'm sure it was probably terrible, what with the meds I'm taking). I love, love, love my classes.

Asthma?? Whoa. Is it just that you were diagnosed recently but you had it all your life, or did it just, like, suddenly develop? :O

I think sudden development in the last six months-ish? Not sure. But I have meds for it now, yay.

Hi!

1) You're not going to fail your thesis.

2) I was a writing tutor in a past life. If you'd like some help, or someone to bounce ideas off of, or a second pair of eyes, or anything -- I love this stuff, and I'd be happy to help.

3) Uh. I've gotten way WAY into animanga lately. I have friends who'll show me episodes and send me doujinshi and it's seriously addictive like candy. Weirdly gothic and homoerotic candy.

4) I also. I've been meaning to ask you for a while -- or did I already ask you and I just don't remember? -- if you wanted to collaborate on a project with me. I absolutely love your artwork, and I've been turning over a couple ideas in my head, and. I'm not in any rush, and I know you have your thesis to do, but if you're interested any time in the future, definitely look me up.

2) You're so sweet, thank you! I may take you up on that offer, if I can actually, you know, get writing. :3

3) Hahaha!! Which anime? Which manga? I have totally been there, and I still have a soft spot in my heart for a lot of it, though these days I just read stuff like Honrou Musuko and Phoenix.

4) Sure, it sounds fun! Yeah, just remind me again after graduation and I will be happy to try. ♥ ♥ ♥

How much into fashion are you? Is it part of your studies.

I know I'm supposed to talk about me, perhaps, but you are more interesting.

Nah, I got into it after my best friend decided he needed to cut his hair and get a whole new wardrobe, and now I'm... probably as into it as a fairly fashion-crazy girl would be (except not as brand-conscious, because I get everything from clothing exchange and vintage stores) but not as into it as someone in the industry, haha. It's hard to gauge, because most of my friends are not interested at all!

Hee hee! I'm not very interesting, really.

Uh, hi!

I don't know if I ever introduced myself... I'm Jess, and I think you're a great artist? (This sounds awkward, but I really admire people with fanart skills. I fail pretty miserably at it).

As for recent events, I only really have things that fit into the first two categories.
1) I have become embarrassingly fond of House M.D. and Jeeves and Wooster. (Hugh Laurie FTW!)
2) I made up my mind to keep my change of major from Illustration to Chemistry. I just sent in my official withdrawal papers to my old school, which I'll miss terribly even though I was miserable the majority of the time I was there.

And good luck with your thesis! I'm sure you won't fail! ♥

Jeeves and Wooster!! PG Wodehouse is one of my very favorite authors, and the Jeeves and Wooster fandom is totally charming.

Wow, Illustration -> Chemistry, that's kind of a big change. :o What happened with illustration?

Charming is the perfect word for Jeeves and Wooster! Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie are so brilliant together...

Uh, well... The decision to go to art school was kind of hastily made my junior year of high school. Up until that point, I'd always wanted to be a scientist, so I guess I just wasn't prepared for the workload. I think I'm a good draftsman, I'm just not that good creatively/conceptually to constantly produce things like you need to do... I learned a lot, and spent two years working my ass off, but I just wasn't cut out for it. Yeah :/ I don't think it was a mistake, just not something I can spend the rest of my life doing, no matter how appealing it seems to me.
