I wrote this ages ago, but never really got around to posting it, and I haven't been keeping up with fandom so well since school started and stuff, so I don't know if this has been done already and many times, but: I-I really want to see fic where both the guys in a slash pairing are women--not like a sudden genderswitch but female from birth. Is there even a name for this? AU fic where they were born biologically female?

Take Fraser and Kowalski. It becomes a whole new kind of heartbreaking that Fraser is squandering her talent and brilliance on paperwork, and Ray, Ray, Ray, I don't even know? And I remember someone ([livejournal.com profile] pearl_o?) saying a female Joe Dick would be a feminist icon. And Rodney would probably be--well, Meredith, for one, but can you imagine what life story would go into making her so overbearing? Also, femslash. ♥

I don't know what you'd do with the names and I also don't know how you'd handle the other female characters. Francesca would be a huge creep as a man--I'd rather keep her a woman--so I don't know whether for everyone else you'd switch everyone, no one, or some, but it would be pretty cool, right?

Has anyone done this? If not, could someone do it? ♥

There's quite a lot of bandslash that does this, some dealing with the implications, some not. I don't know if you're interested in RPS :)

This one is SGA
http://neery.livejournal.com/29806.html
but it's just a snippet of Rodney ending up in the alternate universe where he is married to female Sheppard. Which I DESPERATELY wish she would write more of.

And that's all I can find! I'm pretty sure there's Jim/Blair stories floating around where one of them is a woman...and now I must go find those.

Haha, I swore to myself I would not get sucked in by bandslash but now the temptation is too strong.

I don't know if they're as interesting if you don't know the characters, so I'll try to give you some background.

Pete Wentz, lyricist and front man of Fall Out Boy and general emo king as Peyton.

http://iphignia939.livejournal.com/256588.html
In this one both Pete and Patrick (lead singer of FOB and Pete's best friend) are girls.

http://lovelypoet.livejournal.com/1159191.html
Patrick as a girl, dealing with living on a bus with three boys. In case you are in the market for smutty chatfic.

http://bexless.livejournal.com/642183.html#cutid1
Very short snippet of Gerard and Frank from My Chemical Romance as girls, again, mostly as an excuse for hot femslash. This is me, not complaining.

http://justlikeheroin.livejournal.com/2006/12/
A very weird story in which MCR ends up in a universe where Gerard is a girl. Delves a lot into the weird differences that would make, naturally.

http://joker-and-thief.livejournal.com/7841.html#cutid1
She wrote a whole series of stories in which she turned members of Panic! at the Disco into girls: this one is about Ryan, who plays guitar and writes their angsty lyrics.

If you happen to want pictoral evidence of just how much these guys already look like girls, I could probably provide that, too. I'm just sayin'.

Oh man, I don't think I have read all of these! SWEET. More stuff to make sure I am not going to do my homework! \o/

I pointed her in the direction of some Spencer Smith earlier, but I am sure she needs more pictorial evidence. :P

Happy to lend my effort to the cause!

Spencer's easy, because any picture of him without a beard will pretty much make him look like a lesbian. Everyone else (Gerard, Mikey, Frank, and Ryro, anyway) had, like, a lesbian phase, and those are a lot harder to track down!

(and I am friending you, because I need more people to babble about bandslash to, obviously)

THE CAUSE. IT IS A NOBLE ONE. (Actually, we talked briefly the other night about bandslash and one of my friends told one of my other friends that it wasn't my fault I'd been hooked, because I was a VICTIM. Which is totally true! It is not my fault that The Wentz is a communicable disease!)

One of my friends took a look at a picture of Panic the other night and insisted they were all girls. She knows they aren't, but apparently Spencer had to grow the facial hair because even with it HE IS TOTALLY A GIRL. The lesbian phases are indeed more difficult to track down, I must agree! I generally just let the pictures come to me. Lazy, yet effective.

PS NEW FRIEND YAYE! HI! I see we have, um, some locational things in common. Both currently and not-as-currently. *looks shifty*

A disease, and a GATEWAY DRUG. Because I thought, eh, it's just one band, I was in popslash, that's not so bad, right? And then I realized that they have collaborated with like thirty other bands (well, Patrick collaborates, Pete skeevily hits on, whatever). And now I can name all the members of The Used, even though Bert terrifies me, and HOW DID THIS HAPPEN?

I cannot TELL you how excited I am to be living in a city, where actual other people from the internet live! \o/ (Are we being shifty about that-place-where-we-apparently-both-used-to-live now? Because frankly, it could use some shiftiness.)

posted by [identity profile] book-of-calm.livejournal.com at 09:54pm on 26/09/2007
I can . . . maybe name all the members of The Used? Bert creeps me out a bit, so I try not to pay too much attention to them even though I know the rest of the guys are cool. I KNOW ALL ABOUT THE GATEWAY DRUG THING OMG. I'm not even always listening to the guys and friends sometimes, it's just somehow I have thrown myself back into music more. I am already planning on about six concerts this fall.

There's shiftiness in that-place-I-technically-still-live-when-I-am-not-at-school! There is! (Ask me about my high school sometime! /o\) It just happens to occasionally be drowned out by hippies. I MOCK BECAUSE I LOVE. (I am feeling mildly weird about the fact that you have very probably met some of my RL friends. The world, it is a small place!) I think there may be city-area fangirling this year. I am really looking forward to it. Also, I guess we were right near your office on Thursday? Huh.

Why must you corrupt everyone? Whyyyy? :p

Though I have to admit, that's the most compelling reason I've seen to read bandslash, so far.

I live to torture you.

(I wanted a Scorpius icon to go with this comment, but it appears that I actually *don't have one* for the first time in like 5 years. So hear, have a bandslash icon, just to rub salt in the wound.)

Well, I knew that already.

(I'm so much more disturbed by the lack of Scorpius, dude.)

The funny part, of course, is that I am too stuffed-up and drugged-up and sleepy to catch your word choice errors. Good job. :p

Haha, actually, now I crave BFF femslash like crazy. That was an unexpected result of reading bandslash. :???

posted by [identity profile] pentapus.livejournal.com at 03:39am on 26/09/2007
That is my secret desire also! So far there have just been a few stories where one member of the pairing is switched. I linked to a few girl!John stories here (http://pentapus.livejournal.com/160230.html). Of course, to really fulfill my secret desire, John would then get into teen lesbian romances with, like, Cadman or or Teyla or, okay, Meredith.

posted by [identity profile] mutecornett.livejournal.com at 03:46am on 26/09/2007
Yeah! I feel like the femslash part is really important, actually? That's the part that really makes it ultra flaming awesome.

agh now I have to draw John as a girl what hast thou wrought

. . . I think you should take the lead in this, by drawing lots of SGA femslash involving the boys girls!

Actually, I think you should totally draw girl!John/Cadman, or girl!John/Teyla, as pentapus suggests. Because I have totally been wanting that fic/art for like, a year.

Perhaps there should be a fest.

I wish!!! I have no idea how to go about organizing one, though. Still, how cool would that be?

I know, really. Would be fantastic. I would totally start one, except I am equally clueless, and also an enormous lurker.

Hey, hey, we did that Halloween costume thing, right? We can do this!

Also, psst (http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m100/duckytimes/SGA/jtlesbianau-2.jpg).

posted by [identity profile] mutecornett.livejournal.com at 04:59am on 26/09/2007
You're right, I totally forgot about the halloween costume thing haha. Do you think we should make a comm for this (and perhaps future girl!John and girl!Meredith and girl!whatever art/fic) or do you think it'd be better to just have art and fic just in our own LJs?

Also, your picture makes me SO HAPPY. I AM ABOUT TO DIE OF SQUEE~

posted by [identity profile] pentapus.livejournal.com at 02:02pm on 27/09/2007
I dunno. Separate comms do seem to be all the rage, but they're so specific. Maybe we should make one just for our own whimsical, irregular art challenges. Today girl!John, tomorrow--giant robots! Or something.

Thank you. :) It's actually an old picture I'm hold in reserve because I'm hoping to get a story written for it. :D :D :D

There's a whole comm for Supernatural based on that theme. I know SPN isn't one of your fandoms, but yes--it's definitely a cross-fandom interest.

I wrote a story like this for TS, but it wasn't that great. (Basically just an AU of the pilot, and then they did girlsex.) It's funny to look back on it now and think of how different it would be if I wrote it NOW. Because it would be all about, you know, Performing Gender and Femininity and all that. ^_^

I once wrote quite lot of a LOTR RPS story where several of the male characters were female (inexplicably they also inhabited working class postwar London). The names were a problem I never satisfactorily solved. I was quite pleased with some of it, but in the end I decided the whole thing was too silly to really work and I abandoned it.

There's a fair amount of au genderswitch about, although it takes a little digging. There's a LOT in Supernatural Wincest, if you like that kind of thing.

My personal favourite in dS is Ray K as Raelene the police dyke, who is completely thrown by her attraction to Fraser the gay mountie.

There's an SGA story -- I can find the link if you like -- called M(eredith + 1) Theory, which takes the idea of Rodney growing up as a woman and runs all over the place with it. A while ago I also found, and this one might be harder for me to dig up, a story where Rodney is actually John's ex wife -- it's weirdly sad and complicated, but a fascinating idea.

I knew when I saw that title that I had seen the fic before! (Er, it's over here (http://lallybroch.livejournal.com/74000.html).) I think I maybe meant to read it when it was first posted and never got around to doing so.

You know I've been having an SGA slump the past seven or eight months. XD

They are out there, as all the people above have mentioned and linked. For my current fandom I'm considering writing something like that, though I realize that it would just be massive self-indulgence on my part. I've always referred to it as genderswitch, though that term also applies to other things that aren't quite what you're talking about.

I found this post via your latest fanart, and oh, I so agree with you - I want it so badly. I haven't seen it in SGA yet, more's the pity - all other kinds of genderswitching (and [livejournal.com profile] seperis's female!Sheppard is really really great!), but not this. And now I'm thinking about maybe making it a challenge over at [livejournal.com profile] sga_genderfuck...
