Cowboy!Sheppard

Cowboy!Sheppard was inspired by [livejournal.com profile] pentapus's suggestion and [livejournal.com profile] trinityofone's A Rush and a Push and the Land Is Ours. I ended up going off in a slightly different direction, but [livejournal.com profile] trinityofone's story is fantastic and I highly recommend it if you haven't already read it.

I have such love for this. ♥ You're awesome like chocolate cake.

[identity profile] someinstant.livejournal.com 2006-08-09 04:24 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, man. Lonesome cowboy John, staring at his campfire with Stoic Manly Pain. I love this. Do not cry (in a manly way, of course), Lonesome Cowboy John-- I'm sure you'll find someone soon to share your bedroll and teach you how to cook something other than beans.

And. It is entirely possible that I'm making shit up, but the way the flames are licking upwards in seperate tongues and the logs are arranged around it, the overall shape makes me think of Atlantis. I have no idea if that was intentional, but it's really, really cool.

What is it like to be made of such awesome? {I bet you even smell like cake. ♥!}

[identity profile] of-evangeline.livejournal.com 2006-08-09 04:32 am (UTC)(link)
I said almost the same thing without seeing your comment first. You are lawesome, lacaks.

[identity profile] turtlespeaks.livejournal.com 2006-08-09 04:38 am (UTC)(link)
EEE! I love this! He looks so John Wayne!ANGST!!

I also like the color work and how the fire looks a little bit like Atlantis (though I'm nutty like that).

:D

<3!

Oh that makes me think of Montgomery Clift in Red River and that, my friend, is a *very* good thing :)

♥♥♥ Eee, thank you!

Eeee! I had this vision in my head of how the colors would work but it was really hard to do with flat coloring, so I'm really glad they worked for you. ♥

[identity profile] mutecornett.livejournal.com 2006-08-09 06:06 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, Lonesome Cowboy John. ♥ (Also, you are so perceptive! More so than me, even, but that is a totally awesome thing.)

(I am going to take advantage of this opportunity to go on some more about your adorable comic book shop idea: SO CUTE. BEST IDEA EVER.)

ooooh, that´s inspiring;) Thanks for sharing!

Oooooh, so beautiful! <3 Poor sad, stubbly John—I just want to give him a big hug.

Wow. So cool. Why aren't you doing the comics, dammit?

[identity profile] mutecornett.livejournal.com 2006-08-09 02:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Hee, thank you!

[identity profile] mutecornett.livejournal.com 2006-08-09 02:34 pm (UTC)(link)
♥ Aww, thanks!

[identity profile] trinityofone.livejournal.com 2006-08-09 04:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh God. This makes me SO HAPPY. I love how rugged he looks, and the fire, and the stars...

*flail*

Okay, now I have to resist printing this out and showing it to everyone in the office, because they will look at me oddly. But maybe I can still print it out...

You're incredible.

:D I sort of zoomed out on the handkerchief around his neck... it is so pretty and his unshaven face, makes him look like a bank-robber... Petfect for the mood in [livejournal.com profile] trinityofone's fanfic.

The coloring is great and the flames are sort of pretty.

Thanks for sharing!

Oh, this is beautiful!

[identity profile] mutecornett.livejournal.com 2006-08-09 07:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank *you*, I'm glad you like it!

Eee, glad you like! :D

Off topic, but have you read [livejournal.com profile] mina_de_malfois yet? It's really fun and I'm going to keep bugging you until you do!

[identity profile] mutecornett.livejournal.com 2006-08-09 08:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks! ♥

[identity profile] mutecornett.livejournal.com 2006-08-09 08:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Aww, that's sweet of you to say. ♥ I wouldn't be any good at it, but I'm so glad you like the picture so much.

[identity profile] mutecornett.livejournal.com 2006-08-09 08:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Eee, I'm really thrilled that you like it! (The picture got away from the story a bit, and I feel bad about that, so I figure I owe you a proper illustration. So, if you like, I could do an illo for any of your stories, your choice, whenever you want to claim it?)

[identity profile] mutecornett.livejournal.com 2006-08-09 09:23 pm (UTC)(link)
John as an old-fashioned bank robber = impossibly hot! And thank you so much for the compliments! ♥

[identity profile] mutecornett.livejournal.com 2006-08-09 09:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you so much for the kind words. ♥

[identity profile] elmyraemilie.livejournal.com 2006-08-10 12:28 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, happyhappy--you've posted another picture! So I can once again whisper, "Tarot deck," and this time praise your restrained use of color--reminds me of an illustration in an old book, where they tinted the pictures with just a couple of colors. Wunnaful!

[identity profile] pollitt.livejournal.com 2006-08-10 03:11 am (UTC)(link)
And, I should add, it makes me want to hug John like mad. He'll have a partner for his bedroll soon enough, I have faith :D

[identity profile] mutecornett.livejournal.com 2006-08-10 05:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you so much! I was afraid of making John too orange, so I'm really glad you liked the colors.

[identity profile] shala.livejournal.com 2006-08-11 06:54 am (UTC)(link)
I wanted to say something witty about how much I liked this, but it's about three in the morning and I am very very tired, so I will just say YAYE.

[identity profile] pentapus.livejournal.com 2006-08-11 07:45 am (UTC)(link)
Oooh, I love the fire and the brown colors.

[identity profile] mutecornett.livejournal.com 2006-08-11 06:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Haha, the ducks in your icon are terribly cute! ♥ Also, whee, thank you!

[identity profile] mutecornett.livejournal.com 2006-08-11 06:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Yay, I'm glad you do! (Originally his shirt was pale blue but when I looked at pictures of people sitting in front of campfires and they were orangey all over, I revised.)

Oh John! He looks like he needs a hug :)
It's very beautiful. I like the stubble and the frowny eyebrows.

[identity profile] trinityofone.livejournal.com 2006-08-18 10:20 pm (UTC)(link)
I just found this comment when I was cleaning out my inbox (14000 messages, OH MY GOD) and I am so glad I did. That is the nicest offer ever, and I would love to take you up on it. I feel weird demanding, "Draw something for this!" though. Can I just give you free reign to illustrate whatever strikes your fancy? Or do you prefer to be directed? (I know how that is; sometimes prompts are wonderful.)

Which is a very rambly way of saying: yes, yes, anything you want to draw for or near me would be wonderful. *g* And I really did print out cowboy John and hang him on my wall.

I like your style a lot, reminds me of woodcut print. Love this scene, the whole atmosphere. Great composition and coloring, too.

(Ditto for that scene you drew with the team picnicking!)
