If you watch any magical girl anime this year, give Princess Tutu a try (it's on Youtube; I spoiled the ending for myself not knowing this and then I binged on the whole series--26 episodes--in a Tutu marathon yesterday). At first it's sweet, typical magical girl fare, and then it becomes a surprisingly mature story that turns everything on its head with meta.

I really wish I could say more, but half of the reasons I like it so are spoilery, so.
